General Barrye L. Price Named President & CEO of CADCA

This week, CADCA’s Board of Directors announced that, General Barrye L. Price, Ph.D., who has served the organization since October 2016 as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, will be promoted effective September 1, 2020 to President & Chief Executive Officer. General Arthur T. Dean, who has served as Chairman & CEO of CADCA for the last 22 years, will relinquish his CEO duties and remain as Chairman of CADCA’s Board. However, General Dean has announced that he will be retiring in 2021 after serving CADCA and its coalitions worldwide for 23 years.

General Price is an innovative and accomplished leader who has broken barriers in the professional world, as both a civilian and civil servant. In addition to his experience as COO/EVP of CADCA, he served in the U.S. Army for 31 years, retiring at the grade of Major General and receiving numerous military awards and decorations with the highest being the United States Army Distinguished Service Medal. General Price became the first African American to obtain a doctorate in history from the storied Texas A&M University. In one of his many Human Resources positions in the U. S. Army, he worked at Headquarters of Department of the Army where he was responsible for the Army’s Substance Abuse Programs.

CADCA and General Price are committed to continuing the legacy created under General Dean’s leadership. As a result of General Dean’s steadfast service over more than 22 years, our organization has trained countless coalitions in more than 30 countries across the world to create and maintain safe, healthy and drug-free communities. Further, CADCA has successfully advocated to lawmakers for billions of dollars in federal funding for prevention programs.

“As I prepare to transition into the role of President & CEO, I will honor General Dean’s legacy by continuing to advocate for prevention and working to ensure that CADCA’s efforts to create safer and healthier communities worldwide endure,” said General Price.

“As the Chairman of CADCA’s Board, I speak on their behalf that we are confident General Price is the right person for this position and he will approach his new responsibilities with the same inventive and esteemed leadership as he has during his tenure as the COO/EVP,” said General Dean.
