CADCA Releases Best Practice Publication on Opioid Epidemic

This year, CADCA welcomes Jim Carroll, Deputy Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy, as a keynote speaker. Carroll will speak about ONDCP initiatives, key objectives and the state of the field. Carroll and ONDCP staff will also be participating in an ONDCP Town Hall on Monday.

In addition, participants will hear from a number of renowned experts in the field of drug use prevention, treatment and research such as:

WHAT:                 CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) is holding its 17th annual Mid-Year Training Institute to convene approximately 2,000 substance abuse prevention and treatment specialists from across the world to discuss solutions to the most pressing public health challenges threatening communities.

CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) announced today that Jim Carroll, Deputy Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) at the White House, will serve as the keynote speaker at the 18th annual Mid-Year Training Institute, July 15 – 19 at the Gaylord Palms, Orlando, Florida. The annual training event hosts more than 2,000 prevention specialists from across the world, providing top-tier substance use and misuse training, networking opportunities, and insights from renowned speakers from the prevention field.

 

Leidos, a Fortune 500® information technology, engineering, and science company and CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) will conduct a community awareness safe disposal event Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) in Maryland, in partnership with Maryland's Opioid Operational Command Center.

More than 45 local community agencies are expected at the event, including representatives from Harford County, Cecil County, Baltimore County and Kent County.

On Wednesday, April 11th, Lisa Roberts, Coordinator at Scioto County Drug Action Team Alliance, OH, and Amy Haskins, Project Director at Jackson County Health Department, WV, will testify before the Subcommittee on Healthcare, Benefits, and Administrative Rules in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee at 10 am in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.

Roberts and Haskins will be addressing local responses and resources to curtail the opioid epidemic.
