Wednesday, January 8, 2020 – CADCA proudly presents this installment of its Research Into Action webinar series on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at 1 pm EST featuring Dr. Alisa Padon discussing her recent articles, Alcohol brand use of youth-appealing advertising and consumption by youth and adults”, published in Journal of Public Health Research in 2018, and “A Randomized Trial of the Effect of Youth Appealing E-Cigarette Advertising on the Susceptibility to Use E-Cigarettes Among Youth”, published in Nicotine & Tobacco Research in 2017. Dr. Padon discussed her and her colleagues’ articles’ findings regarding the effects of youth-appealing advertising on youth use alcohol and e-cigarettes. One article found that alcohol brands that use more youth appealing elements in their advertisements are positively associated with youth consumption of that brand and not associated with adult consumption. The other article found that youth exposed to e-cigarette advertising with high or low youth appeal were more susceptible to try e-cigarettes or other tobacco products compared to youth not exposed to e-cigarette advertising. Dr. Padon discussed the implications her findings have for coalition work and how coalitions can work to change policies in their communities regarding alcohol and e-cigarette advertising.
