Lynnette Pair Young

Lynnette Pair Young is the Deputy Director, Training, Coalition Development/TA, and Outreach for the National Coalition Institute. She started her career at the National Institutes of Health in the Library of Medicine committed to the latest medical research and best practices from all over the world.  She has over twenty-five years of experience in executive leadership, management operations, human capital and administration, grant and contract management, policy development, strategics planning and development, change management, advocacy, community partnership and coalition development, training and technical assistance, outreach, and engagement in support of national organizations, government agencies, institutions, and associations’ initiatives across the country.

Ms. Young served as Chief Program Officer and member of the Executive Leadership Team for the Greater Washington Urban League where she led over eighteen million dollars of community development, workforce development and housing initiatives.  In early 2000, Ms. Young served as Director and National Prevention Partner for HHS/SAMHSA/Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.  She spent over fifteen years leading projects for substance use/misuse, crime, and binge drinking prevention programs and services.  She organized and led national initiatives and programs for the HHS Interagency Prevention Partnership with Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Justice, Department of Education and Department of Labor.

In addition, Ms. Young served as Director for Training and Technical Assistance contracts for Department of Justice/Office of Justice Programs, HHS/Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Office of the Secretary/Office of the National Coordinator, and other leadership roles on projects with Department of Defense and Environmental Protection Agency.

She enjoys spending time with her husband, two children in college and dog, Midnight.  In her spare time, Ms. Young has devoted twenty years of volunteer service to advancing STEM education in the K-12 grades and serves as Chair of the STEM Advisory Committee at AACS in Annapolis, Maryland.  Other affiliations include charter member and former chair of the GWUL | Guild’s Education and Youth Development Committee; member of the National Coalition of Negro Women (NCNW) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and volunteer events coordinator for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
