Bertha K. Madras, PhD, Professor of Psychobiology, Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, will keynote the National Leadership Plenary. Dr. Madras will address the importance of using science to inform the public about marijuana’s harm. DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg, CADCA Chairman and CEO Gen. Arthur Dean and Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Michael Botticelli will also be featured speakers in the National Leadership Plenary.
Coalitions will have 75 courses to choose from during the Forum. You won’t want to miss the course, “Engaging the Community to Address Medicine Abuse” on Feb. 2. Speakers will include Jenni Roberson, Associate Director, Communications & Media Relations, Consumer Healthcare Products Association y Lori Springer, Executive Director, Shelby County Drug Free Coalition and 2016 Dose of Prevention award winner. Springer, from Indiana, was the first place CADCA 50 Challenge winner.
CADCA has organized its training sessions into several tracks for your convenience. In response to YOUR feedback, CADCA has added a new track to its line-up called “What’s Trending?” Some of the most alarming trends in substance abuse are proving to be more than just a passing phase. Training sessions will feature the latest data available on the impact and implications of “medical” and commercialized marijuana. This track also will include snapshots of the changing landscapes of drug and alcohol prevalence across the nation. Best practices in tackling drugs on the rise and their associated consequences will also be shared.
