Communications Associate
DEPARTMENT: Meetings and Communications
REPORTS TO: Director, Communications and Marketing
RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports the Meetings and Communications team and all CADCA teams in areas of communications, public relations, social media, digital content creation, project management and logistics.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Contribute to communications strategies including content development and development of strategic priorities
- Plan, film, edit and publish CADCA videos related to events, trainings and coalition work
- Create and manage digital content for multiple social media channels
- Develop strategies/campaigns to organically increase social media followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Assist CADCA teams with all communications projects, writing and editing
- Manage media list development and media pitches for CADCA events and initiatives
- Lead on content development, publication and marketing of CADCA's weekly e-newsletter
- Develop, edit and publish collateral materials for CADCA signature events
- Manage production of signature publications including bi-annual newsletter and Annual Report
- Develop content for CADCA Blog, website and other digital communication channels
- Write content for CADCA events including talking points, press releases and marketing collateral
- Provide copyediting for all major print and web collateral
- Engage in other special projects as needed by all CADCA teams
- Track project effectiveness and timelines
- Build and maintain historical files for all communications projects
- Report on the success of digital initiatives by gathering and communicating relevant metrics
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe software suites and other required software programs
- Expertise on developing engaging social media content tools and the ability to track and interpret metrics
- Lead generation for news/media outreach
- Video production and editing skills
- Solid research acumen
- Self-motivated, proactive and dependable
- Possess a high degree of professionalism
- Organized and enjoys creating systems to manage projects
- Able to handle sensitive information and documents with confidentiality
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere)
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or marketing required. Must have at least three years of related work experience. Must have proven success in a fast-paced professional setting. Previous non-profit or association experience a plus. Working knowledge of issues surrounding substance misuse prevention, alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related issues are beneficial.
WORK HOURS: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
