1) FORMER COALITION LEADER SWORN-IN TODAY AT WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY

Today, Mary Ann Solberg, former Executive Director of the Troy Community Coalition, was sworn in as the Deputy Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). Ms. Solberg will be an asset to ONDCP and the substance abuse prevention, treatment and research field; CADCA would like to extend special thanks and congratulations to Ms. Solberg for her years of service and dedication to community coalitions and to CADCA.

2) WHITE HOUSE OFFERS MEDIA MATCH FOR PUBLIC SERVICE ADS

The Office of National Drug Control Policy's (ONDCP) Youth Anti-Drug Media campaign is a five-year media effort to educate and enable youth to reject illicit drugs. The campaign, which is designed to leverage federal funding by requesting a pro bono match of media time, will target children ages 9-18 as well as the adults who influence them. ONDCP purchases advertising time from media outlets - these companies are then asked to match the government's buy with an equivalent value in public service. The majority of those donations must be met with public service time or space. This donated time and space is divided amongst pre-approved organizations whose programs are consistent with and support ONDCP's youth drug prevention strategy. Eligible organizations/programs are those that aid in drug abuse prevention by encouraging activities such as mentoring, greater parental involvement, after-school programs, raising young people's self-esteem, and other nationally relevant issues such as underage drinking and juvenile crime. Applications are available online.
