3) FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FROM JOIN TOGETHER FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT
Join Together, a project of the Boston University School of Public Health, has funding and leadership opportunities available for twelve communities to become Demand Treatment! Partners. Demand Treatment! is a nationwide initiative working within communities to increase the number of people who get treatment for alcohol and drug addictions. The initiative's objectives are to build local leadership, provide information for action, improve the quality of treatment, and end discrimination against people with drug and alcohol disease.
Demand Treatment! Partnerships are intended for cities or counties that are already engaged in organized efforts to expand treatment. Partners will be selected on the basis of track record, community-wide engagement, leadership, and a clearly articulated plan for a strategic approach to increase the demand for treatment.
Demand Treatment! Partners enjoy an innovative package of benefits, including: leadership development and recognition, technical assistance from Join Together and the co-sponsors of the Demand Treatment! initiative, a one-time grant of $60,000 to help defray some of the costs associated with the project, and peer support from other Partner communities.
Letters of intent are due May 29, and the complete application is due July 1. Details are available at www.jointogether.org/announcement or by emailing demandtreatment@jointogether.org.
