1) JOIN US AT CADCA’S FORUM; “COMMUNITY COALTIONS: THE HEART & SOUL OF AMERICA”

In just a little more than two months, CADCA kicks off its popular National Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. Forum XIII’s theme is “Community Coalitions: The Heart & Soul of America,” and will be held February 11-14, 2003 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. If you care about substance abuse and believe in local community solutions and prevention efforts, this is the one conference you can’t miss!

Take part in our first-ever pre-conference workshops. Visit Capitol Hill and meet with your elected representatives to discuss substance abuse. You may decide to sign up to have a little fun and explore the Nation’s Capitol during our popular “Dine & Tour.” There’s something for everyone at Forum XIII.

To receive the latest Forum news updates, email forumnews@cadca.org. Keep visiting our Forum web site at http://www.cadca.org/Events/Forum/Forum.htm.

2) SAVE $100 WITH EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION; DEADLINE DEC. 20

Why procrastinate when you can save $100 by registering early for the Forum? These early bird registration prices are only available through December 20. After December 20, individual registration rates increase to $475 per person, and non-member registration rates will be $575 per person.

To register today, visit our online registration center at http://www.cadca.org/Events/Forum/Registration/Registration.htm. You can also register for optional, ticketed events on our web site as well.

3) NEED HELP GETTING TO THE FORUM? APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships will be awarded to selected CADCA members in good standing thanks to the generosity of Forum sponsors and our federal partners. Scholarships are available to paid CADCA members only.

Applicants must submit a completed scholarship form before December 6, 2002. Selection of awards will be based on financial need and participation in prevention or treatment programs. Coalitions that have not received previous scholarships will be given priority and will be awarded a maximum of one scholarship.

To submit an application, simply visit the Scholarships page at www.cadca.org/Events/Forum/Forum.htm and download the .pdf file to be faxed. You will need your CADCA member ID and password to access this page.

4) EXPERIENCE FORUM XIII’S ALL-NEW YOUTH TRACK

Coalition leaders--we invite you to bring your empowered, enthusiastic youth leaders to Washington, D.C., February 12-14, 2003, for CADCA’s all-new Youth Track. Mirroring the general outline of the National Leadership Forum, the Youth Track will focus on leadership and team building for America’s young leaders.

The Forum continues to be the premier substance abuse conference as well as an assembly for coalition leaders and members to network and learn practical skills to take back to their communities. But, it’s not just adults who want to meet new people and learn valuable tools to enhance their roles as future leaders--our youth deserve to actively participate as well.

The Youth Track will feature interesting and exciting speakers, breakouts, round table discussions, and great multimedia presentations in addition to our ever-popular youth evening event. All the Youth Track’s workshops are planned explicitly for youth, with some workshops facilitated by their peers, while others are designed for both adults and youth.

CADCA has lowered the youth registration fee; chaperones will receive new group discounts. To find out more about Youth Track, email Natalie Embrey at nembrey@cadca.org. For the latest, most updated information, visit http://www.cadca.org/Events/Forum/YouthTrack/YouthTrack.htm.

5) COALITIONS INVITED TO BRING LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS

Since law enforcement professionals are a critical part of any successful community coalition, we have set up a special Law Enforcement Track at the Forum. It will focus on tactics, practices and communication between law enforcement officials and local coalitions to form effective partnerships to meet the challenges schools and neighborhoods face today. It will address how to deal with drugs in the community and explore the rationale for law enforcement’s participation in community coalitions and provide those officials and local leaders with the tools to start or strengthen community substance abuse prevention efforts. Invite your community law enforcement representatives to experience the Forum with you.

6) TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LOW AIR FARES TO GET TO THE FORUM
