Deacon D.
Dzierzawski Bio
Since 1996, Deacon D. Dzierzawski has been the Chief
Executive Officer of The Community Partnership, a systemic coalition
dedicated to the prevention of the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and
other drugs. Prior to moving to Toledo, Deacon was the Community
Outreach Director for the Franklin County Prevention Institute,
a federally-funded community partnership in Columbus, Ohio.
Deacon has been an adult probation officer, counselor
and case manager in an in-patient adolescent treatment center in
Southeastern Ohio. He also holds the elected office of Councilman
in the Village of Swanton, Ohio, and is the Chairman of the Council’s
Safety Committee.
Deacon is recognized as an expert in coalition development and
environmental change and has been recognized as such by the Office
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, National Institute
of Drug Abuse and CADCA. He is trainer for CADCA’s National
Coalition Institute and was recently honored as the Institute’s
National Coalition Academy Trainer of the Year. His work has been
highlighted in NIDA Notes, a publication of the National Institute
on Drug Abuse, and received recognition from the National Highway
Transportation Safety Administration and the Ohio Department of
Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.
Deacon holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership
from Lourdes College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public
Health from Ohio University. He is a Certified Chemical Dependency
Counselor and a graduate of the Franklin County Leadership Institute,
Leadership Toledo and Leadership Ohio.
