CHPA

In increasing numbers, kids are abusing over-the-counter cough medicines. And while many parents are diligent about addressing illicit drug abuse with their kids, most aren't discussing this sort of substance that could be happening in their own homes. In conjunction with CADCA, CHPA has developed a community toolkit about cough medicine abuse and will be hosting town hall meetings nationwide this August. Stop by our booth to learn more.

Drug Enforcement Administration

The primary mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws in the United States. DEA is also committed to reducing the demand for drugs and increasing the publics’ awareness about the dangers associated with using illegal drugs. To that end, DEA’s Demand Reduction Program is an essential part of the agency’s overall mission by bridging the gap between law enforcement and the prevention/treatment communities. The goal of DEA’s Demand Reduction Program is to support national efforts to reduce the demand for drugs by engaging in public messaging to show the consequences of drug use. For example, DEA’s teen website, www.justthinktwice.com provides a wealth of information about substance abuse prevention for teens. DEA has also developed a teacher’s guide to be used in conjunction with the website, as well as other drug prevention and education materials.

For additional information about DEA’s Demand Reduction Program, call 202-307-7936.
