The 2005 Mid-Year offers training you cannot get anywhere else!

CADCA´s 2005 Mid-Year Training Institute will focus on the ‘nuts and bolts' of the business aspects of operating a coalition.

The training focuses on the principles of non-profit management while incorporating the dynamics of a coalition. Topics range from how to create a non-profit to managing the everyday business aspects of a coalition.

Program Format

The Mid-Year Training Institute offers small work group sessions to allow for in-depth, hands on training. The program consists of eight day-long workshops on topics including:

  •  Human Resources
  •  Board and Volunteer Development
  •  Fiscal and Business Management Systems
  •  How to Start a Non-Profit
  •  Marketing
  •  Fundraising
  • Advocacy
  • Legal Issues

Participants will learn everything from articles of incorporation, how to deal with the IRS and how to develop sustainability plans and sound fiscal systems that result in clean audits, business solution software that will help your coalition's effectiveness and how to get the most from your Board and volunteers.

Coalition Bootcamp

CADCA's 2005 Mid-Year Training Institute, will also feature the “coalition bootcamp”, an intensive training course that addresses key aspects of coalition management. This four-day course will review the history and evolution of the coalition movement, the public health model, the stages of community readiness, how to assess risk and protective factors and the seven basic steps of starting a coalition. Participants will also learn how to develop a coalition strategic plan and build organizational structure, how to recruit and maintain volunteers and key steps to strengthening the coalition infrastructure and resource base.

Who Should Attend?

Community coalition board members, staff and volunteers and other individuals interested in how to create or successfully manage a community coalition.

Why Should You Attend?

CADCA's Mid-Year is unique in the sense that there is no other training of its kind offered to the coalition field. Understanding the business side of a coalition is essential to successfully implementing a community-wide drug prevention strategy because a coalition cannot continue to do its work without effective management.
