Spouse/Guest Program

The Spouse & Guest Program is open to all spouses, family members and guests accompanying registrants to the 2005 Mid-Year Training Institute. The spouse/guest program is a social program and is not intended for individuals who wish to participate in the workshops.

 

Badges may be picked up with the sponsoring attendee's registration badge. Name badges must be worn for admission to all functions. A Spouse/Guest registration will allow access to the welcome reception, the closing reception and daily continental breakfasts. In addition, optional tours are offered daily.

*A "guest" is a spouse, significant other, friend or an adult child (18 or older). A co-worker or an associate within the industry may not use the guest registration category.

TALIESIN WEST BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR

This guided tour gives an intimate and in-depth look at Taliesin West, a remarkable set of buildings at the foothills of the McDowell Mountains built in 1937 by Frank Lloyd Wright. Taliesin West, set amidst 600 acres of Sonoran beauty in North Scottsdale, was Wright's personal winter residence and studio and is considered onf of his greatest architechtural masterpieces. The site served as his personal home, sutdio and campus for his school of architecture. It was also the home of the Taliesin Fellowship, a group of 23 young "disciples" who built the complex under Wright's direction. The U.S. government declared Taliesin West a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Whether browsing or buying, this tour provides a unique and sophisticated atmosphere for every shopper. This tour will begin as your guide points out many sights and landmarks through Phoenix, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale . The main stop will the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall or the Borgata, home to many exclusive boutiques.

 

Price: $38.00 Per Person. This price includes transportation to and from any of the shopping locations and beverages.

DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN AND HEARD MUSEUM TOUR

Two of the Southwest's most unique visitor attractions, The Heard Museum and the Desert Botanical Garden , provide an informative and interesting insight into the diversity of the land and the resourcefulness of its Native people. Your first stop is the Heard Museum , the Native American Cultural Center of the Southwest. Renowned for its collections of Native American artifacts and famous Kachina Doll collection, The Heard Museum contains nearly 100,000 artifacts.

 

The next stop on this Sojourn to the Southwest is the Desert Botanical Garden . Featuring over 15,000 desert plants of the Sonoran Desert and other arid regions of the world, the Desert Botanical Garden will indoctrinate you to the unique vegetation of the region. You'll stroll along the winding paths as your guide tells tales of the Saguaro cactus, "jumping" cholla etc.

 

Your guests will receive a guided tour by a knowledgeable docent and have time to browse in the Gift Shop. The best spot in town to purchase authentic Native American crafts!  Total time spent at the Heard Museum is 1.5 hours, including tour and time to shop. Total time at the Desert Botanical Garden is 1.5 hours, including a brief amount of time to browse the Garden Gift Shop.

 

Price: $62 per person. This price includes transportation, Docent guided tour of the Heard Museum, admission fees to both locations, souvenir booklet of the Botanical Garden and beverages.

HORSEBACK RIDING ACROSS THE VERDE RIVER

There is but one way to experience the beauty and serenity of the Arizona landscape. Hop in the saddle, and ride into the hear of the majestic Fort McDowell Indian Reservation.  Steep, mountain walls stand off in the distance against the desert sky, offering a watercolor backdrop to this awesome setting.   The trails lead you into the Tonto National Forest and deep into the wilderness.  You will cross the flowing Verde River and ride through dense Mesquite groves past huge Cottonwoods in spectacular canyons. It is a searal journey thorugh one of the scenic jewels of the desert southwest.   As you wind your way along an old stage coach route, your guide will explain a little history of the Sonoran desert.

 

Price: $95.00 per person for 1.5 hour ride. This price includes round trip transportation, guided horseback tour and beverages.

 

*Each tour requires a minimum number of attendees to participate. If a tour is cancelled due to low interest, attendees will be notified in advance. The prices quoted are based on the minimum amount of participants. If the final number is higher than the guaranteed amount, CADCA will re-cost the tour based on the amount registered. In most cases, this will mean a credit to the participant.
