CADCA Welcome Reception

CSAP will be convening the fourth annual "Community Prevention Day" scheduled for February 11, 2008. This event will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The CADCA Forum is scheduled from February 11-14, 2008. The theme of this year's Community Prevention Day is "Leadership", and how it impacts the vulnerable populations/communities that we serve. CSAP's proposed Leadership speaker will be Hope Taft, Former First Lady of Ohio and President, Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free Foundation.

The Leadership To Keep Children Alcohol Free Foundation, a public not-for-profit foundation of current and former Governors' spouses and their representatives, is a national philanthropy dedicated to promoting the health, well-being and potential of our Nation's youth by preventing alcohol use among children. The Foundation recognizes childhood drinking as a public health issue and seeks to make its prevention a national health priority. The Foundation works with Federal, State and local policy makers and opinion leaders to develop and implement comprehensive, integrated evidence-based approaches to help keep children alcohol free.

Background

This unique gathering of CSAP grantees, community organizations, prevention leaders, and public health activists from across the country come together at one venue to receive training and technical assistance specific to substance abuse prevention, as well as network with other grantees, and partners within their region. These participants will also have the opportunity to share experiences and information, establish new relationships in regional networking sessions, and take part in workshops to develop strategic organizational skills.

Participants at this special event include: CSAP Grantees, State Alcohol & Drug Abuse Directors, National Prevention Partners, the National Prevention Network, Prevention Fellows, Centers for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPTs), and the CSAP National Advisory Council.

Prevention Day Concepts

Grantee Poster Sessions

In an effort to showcase the work that CSAP grantees and partners are doing around the vulnerable populations, poster sessions will be conducted throughout the day. This presents an excellent opportunity for CSAP's grantees to be more invested in Prevention Day, and it leads to more networking and learning opportunities between grantees.
