Description:

Often community meetings are framed around problems, but what could happen if you held community meetings focused on powerful questions? In this workshop you’ll participate in a process called A World Café. This innovative approach to large group dialogue creates conditions that invite participation and energize conversations. This process provides the opportunity for all voices to be heard, particularly those that have been historically marginalized or disenfranchised. The World Cafe encourages deep listening and develops understanding that builds into diverse perspectives and insightful ideas. When harvested, conversations like these often result in surprising solutions and strategies. This two-hour workshop demonstrates a very different way to engage your community in conversations that adds new life and vitality to town hall meetings and other community forums. (Workshop is limited to 112.)

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the seven World Café guidelines and roles of hosting
  • Participate in a World Café and practice Café etiquette
  • Investigate World Café methods and their importance to conversations that honors diversity and builds relationships
