Everybody is NOT doing it,
yet that is the perception of a lot of teens. Learn how to implement
and integrate normative use messages to change behavior as a prevention
strategy. Participants will learn how one coalition has begun
to see a shift in perception at four public high schools by using
the social norms approach. Practical tools will be given for data
collection, development of normative use messages, media testing
with students and how to involve different sectors of the community
in a social norms campaign so that consistent messages are given
to teens.

Learning Objectives:

- Understand the basics of the social norms approach
to prevention
- Understand how to gather data about student perceptions
of their peers use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and
how to integrate normative use messages into your prevention
work
- Learn how to test and market normative use messages
- Understand the importance of involving all sectors of
the community into a social norms campaign
