MONDAY, Pre-Con TOURS

 

Mount Vernon Tour

(8:30am-12:30pm), $30.00

 

Your charter coach & tour guide will meet the group at the Renaissance to begin your day to touring.

 

The highlight of this tour will be your visit to Mount Vernon: George Washington's Estate & Gardens, “America 's most visited home”. Enjoy a tour of the Mansion, outbuildings and Museum; visit Washington 's Tomb; explore the Pioneer Farm (and round barn!) as well as free time to stroll in the gardens or gift shop.

 

En route back to the hotel, the group will view from the coach the quaint seaport town of Old Town Alexandria , Fort Washington , The Pentagon and Crystal City, VA. Time permitting the group may make a stop in Old Town Alexandria for free time.

 


Washington Highlight Tour

(9am-1pm) $25.00

Your charter coach & tour guide will meet you at a local Washington hotel in order to begin your day of touring.

 

Your first stop will be the U.S. Capitol, where under the magnificent white dome, Senators and Representatives meet to shape the U.S. legislative policy. Your U.S. Capitol tour will include Statuary Hall, the original Supreme Court chamber and the Crypt, intended burial place of George and Martha Washington. (Lines & Time Permitting)

 

You will also make a stop at the White House for a photo opportunity

 

Continue to the newest memorial in Washington , DC , the National WWII Memorial which was dedicated on May 29, 2004. The memorial honors all military veterans of the war, the citizens on the home front, the nation at large, and the high moral purpose and idealism that motivated the nation's call to arms.

 

Your next stop will be the Jefferson Memorial, where you will find beneath the marble rotunda, the 19-foot bronze statue of the third President of the United States surrounded by passages from the Declaration of Independence and other famous Jefferson writings.

 

Follow the Tidal Basin around to the FDR Memorial, a 7.5-acre site that depicts the 12 pivotal years of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency through a series of four outdoor gallery rooms. The rooms feature ten bronze sculptures depicting President Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt and events from the Great Depression and World War II. The park-like setting includes waterfalls and quiet pools amidst a meandering wall of reddish Dakota granite, where Roosevelt 's inspiring words are carved.

 

Walk the National Mall, stopping along the way to visit the Lincoln Memorial. This grand monument overlooks the Reflecting Pool, the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. Inside, the 19-foot marble statue of the 16 th president is flanked by inscriptions of his Second Inaugural Address and the famous Gettysburg Address.

 

Next, visit the Korean Memorial which is located on a 2.2 acre site adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and features a sculptured column of 19 foot soldiers arrayed for combat with the American flag as their symbolic objective. A 164-foot mural wall is inscribed with the words, Freedom Is Not Free and is etched with 2,500 photographic images of nurses, chaplains, crew chiefs, mechanics and other support personnel to symbolize the vast effort that sustained the military operation.

 

Take a short stroll to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The black granite wall of this moving V-shaped memorial are inscribed with the names of 58,209 Americans missing or killed in the Vietnam conflict. Frederick Hart's life-size bronze sculpture depicts three young servicemen.

 

End your tour at the original pick up location.

The National Leadership Forum is the one time each year that CADCA calls together all its members to meet, share ideas and discuss the future of the coalition field.
All members of CADCA are invited to a special members-only breakfast on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 7:30am - 8:30am.
At the Members Breakfast, CADCA provides an open forum for all members to provide feedback to their national organization. A motivational speaker will start your conference day off right. Look for your invitation to this special event in the mail, or sign up to attend

6:00 Dinner will be at Phillips Seafood Restaurant located along the banks of the Potomac River

 

The dinner entrees are served with fresh baked rolls, house salad, chef's choice of starch, vegetable & dessert of the day, coffee, tea & soft drinks.

 

8:00 pm   After dinner, you will see our national monuments and federal buildings flooded in lights, from the illuminated dome of the U.S. Capitol to the breathtaking view from the roof of the Kennedy Center. Step off the coach and visit: The Jefferson, Lincoln , Vietnam Veterans, Korean War, World War II and FDR Memorials as well as the Kennedy Center. Time permitting view from coach: The U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, House and Senate Office Buildings , Federal Triangle, Pennsylvania Avenue , The White House, Capitol Reflecting Pool, Georgetown and the Marine Corps Memorial ( Iwo Jima ).

10:00 pm   Tour concludes at the hotel.
