Capitol Hill Day

WEDNESDAY, January 12, 2005

9:00 am – 11:30 am

Legislative Update sponsored by Channing Bete Company

Get the latest and most up-to-date information on legislation and what else is happening on Capitol Hill that might affect you and your coalition. Interact with key Hill staffers and hear from Administration and Congressional leaders!

CADCA also will present four Congressional Leadership Awards to recognize outstanding congressional members who have championed legislation and strategies to protect and enhance the federal role in substance abuse prevention, education, treatment and research. Last year, CADCA chose Congressmen Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and Ernest Istook, Jr. (R-OK) to receive these awards, both of whom have been long-time champions for our field.

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Capitol Hill Appointments

Last year, more than 1,000 coalition leaders and Forum attendees from around the country headed to Capitol Hill to educate their legislators about the effectiveness of substance abuse prevention, education and treatment.

Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to educate members of your Congressional delegation and/or their key staffers about your coalition and the important issues facing our field!

Get started on your congressional appointments with CADCA's Capitol Hill Day Handbook.

CADCA will set up congressional appointments for groups of five or more. Please contact Jessica Burch at jburch@cadca.org or by telephone at (703) 706-0560 ext. 255.

5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Congressional Reception Sponsored by Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA)

Last year, Capitol Hill Day concluded with an incredible congressional reception in the Hart Senate Office Building where Senator Charles E. Grassley accepted an award from CADCA for his sustained leadership in support of the anti-drug coalition movement. CADCA also was honored to have several other distinguished members of Congress and their staffs attend the reception.

THIS YEAR WILL BE EVEN BETTER! Don't miss this valuable opportunity to network with Members of Congress and key staffers!
