Each year, CADCA sponsors satellite broadcasts on numerous drug-related topics in partnership with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) Program. The broadcasts are available to the general public and there is no registration fee. The average CADCA satellite broadcast features over 450 downlink sites in 47 states (including DC, Canada and Bermuda), 35 military sites, and over 500 schools and 60 school districts. The estimated live or videotaped audience averages over 4,000. Most broadcasts are available via cable access in over 2 million households. CADCA partners with federal agencies and other non-profit organizations to bring information, tools and skills to its viewing audience. CADCA Broadcast Partners include: the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Partnership for a Drug Free America (PDFA), and the National Education Association (NEA). CADCA broadcasts feature national leaders, successful coalitions and respected trainers. The success of CADCA’s satellite broadcast initiative demonstrates that communities are interested in receiving the latest information about the science and practice of drug prevention, intervention, research and treatment in a live and interactive format. The broadcasts are a cost-effective training mechanism and a valuable communication tool. |
