Overall objective: The Director, Meetings & Special Events is responsible for accomplishing the goals of the organization through meetings and special events.
Major duties include:

Responsible for all aspects of meetings and special events
- Supervises staff and works closely with the Vice President and CEO on issues regarding meetings and special events
- Direct all logistics for CADCA- and Institute-sponsored meetings and special events – pre-event and on-site execution
- Develop and manage department budget and individual meeting/event budgets
- Develop, foster and execute ideas for growth of all CADCA-sponsored meetings and events in terms of dollars, attendance numbers and effectiveness
- Negotiate contracts with hotels, partners and other vendors relating to CADCA and Institute meetings and special events
- Direct all marketing and promotion of CADCA-sponsored meetings and special events – working in conjunction with Marketing & Communications
- Direct production and design of all printed materials and marketing collateral supporting CADCA-sponsored meetings and special events
- Direct evaluation and research of all CADCA-sponsored meetings and events – working in conjunction with the Evaluation & Research department
- Act as team lead for the development of content and programs for all CADCA-sponsored meetings and special events
- Work cooperatively with Development & Events team on fundraising surrounding the Drug-Free Kids
- Campaign Awards Dinner
- Direct sponsorship cultivation and relationship management for all CADCA-sponsored meetings and special events, working closely with Development, Marketing & Communications and the CEO
- Coordinate CADCA staff participation as applicable for all CADCA-sponsored meetings and special events
- Supervise meetings and special events staff, including selection and evaluation
- Develop and cultivate relationships with key industry partners
- Work cooperatively with CADCA Executive Team members to achieve the goals of the organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Collaborate with many internal and external stakeholders to execute each event
- Develop operational practices, timelines, and post-event critiques
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

- Proven experience in best practices for meetings and events including, but not limited to contract negotiation (hotels, convention centers, AV, general services contractors, catering, and other vendors), exhibitor and sponsor solicitation and management.
Minimum training and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- CMP
- 7 years of progressive meeting planning and/or events experience
- Proficient user of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Category of position: Exempt Employee
Normal duty hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm*, Monday through Friday
*Additional hours as required.
